The Fellers Family Auditorium Continuing a Community Legacy
Continuing a Community Legacy
Since 1924, the Herod Hall Auditorium on the Alva campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University has served as the bedrock for performing arts in northwest Oklahoma. It is a visible, active and artistic centerpiece for the community. For many visitors, it is the first and only impression of Northwestern they may experience.
Over the past century, thousands of Northwestern students have performed in their first collegiate concert or play on this stage. Thousands of students have learned the crafts of costume design, set design, sound and lighting, makeup, production and directing…all to the delight of appreciative patrons of all ages.
An auditorium of this size and stature is a challenge to maintain and requires constant upgrades and enhancements to remain a source of pride for our community. The current auditorium has seen more use than most theatres are designed to endure. Necessary improvements include new seating and flooring, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, and new technology.
Our Community is Investing in Northwestern’s Performing Arts
Kenny and Sue Fellers – Northwestern alumni and visionaries – recently made a lead investment to begin the renovation of the Herod Hall Auditorium, now renamed The Fellers Family Auditorium. The Fellers’ lead gift has stimulated investment from The Charles Morton Share Trust and other donors in the local community. These donations will combine with an investment from the University to fund new auditorium seating, flooring, wall treatment, updated restrooms and other improvements.
These investments will clearly make a transformational difference at Northwestern. Yet, our community investment must increase beyond these initial major updates. Now we are establishing an endowment and seeking your support for the proper maintenance and improvements of this prominent, historical venue for the future.
You Can Play a Vital Role in Northwestern's Performing Arts Excellence
Your gift will be honored with a small bronze name plate recognizing your investment in the performing arts of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. This nameplate will be affixed to one of the new seats in the newly renovated facility, honoring you and your investment. If you prefer, you may choose to honor a student, an alum, a loved one or your organization.
- With an endowment investment of $1,500, the nameplate will be placed on the first 11 rows.
- With an endowment investment of $1,000, the nameplate will be placed on the second 10 rows.
- With an endowment investment of $500, the nameplate will be placed on the balcony.
Payments may be spread over a three-year period. Gifts less than $500 will contribute to the operational endowment, but will not secure a nameplate opportunity. The bronze nameplate is 5'' by 1-1/2'' and will be affixed to the back of the seat. The primary line of text allows for 36 characters. Two additional lines and will be engraved in smaller type with each line allowing for 40 characters. Sample of the nameplate is included here.
Please note: The endowment investment does not reserve your seat while attending performances. Nameplates will remain for the duration of the life of the seats, typically 25 years.
