Barrett Brown, '28

Barrett Brown, a native of Liberty, Oklahoma, came to Alva after being recruited to join the Northwestern football team. What began as an athletic opportunity soon became something much more meaningful.

“Football brought me to Northwestern, but the university gave me a home away from home. The people who believed in me and the opportunities I have found here are what made me want to stay and grow. This place has changed my life in ways I never expected.”

A valedictorian and class president at Liberty High School, Brown arrived at Northwestern with a strong academic foundation and a drive to lead. As a freshman, he was selected for the President’s Leadership Class. When the year ended, he knew he wanted to continue serving in a leadership role, which led him to be accepted as a National Scholar Ambassador.

Throughout his time at Northwestern, Brown has fully embraced the resources and relationships available to him. At the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association’s Ranger2Ranger event, he connected with several alumni who praised his professionalism and genuinely enjoyed their conversations with him.

“The connections I have made at Northwestern mean everything to me. This campus truly feels like family, a place where people lift you up and remind you that you belong. The support I have felt here has shaped who I am becoming.”

Brown will graduate in May 2028 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He plans to pursue a career in banking or finance, and he will carry the leadership, confidence and mentorship he gained at Northwestern with him.
